Jacques Sottiaux graduated from the Veterinary School of Lyon in 1976.  After working in private practice until 1989 he then moved to a referral practice for cardiology in France until 1993.  Between 1993 and 1999 Jacques was a consultant in the Veterinary School of Lyon, gaining his European Diploma in internal medicine 1999.   In 2002 he moved to the UK and took up a post in cardiology at the Animal Medical Centre in Manchester.  He joined Wey Referrals in 2004 where he continues to specialise in cardiology in addition to internal medicine.

His most recent publications include Cardiovascular Effects of Anaemia (WSAVA World Congress 2004 Rhodes),  Diastolic Mitral Valve Regurgitation (BSAVA Annual Meeting 2005) and Aortic Regurgitation in Dogs (ECVIM-CA Snow Meeting 2006 Kitzbuhel).
